Here's a robot video that I found interesting:
Testing the DJI Phantom quadcopter drone equipped with a GoPro Hero action camera. This was the initial flight after setting up the Phantom and a few minutes of ground level practice. The camera is an early model Hero recording at 720p 60 fps.
There was a light breeze at ground level and reasonably strong wind over the top of the trees. The Phantom quadcopter was surprisingly easy to pilot automatically holding it's position using GPS and an onboard compass.
The 'jello' effect in the video is caused by harmonic vibrations from the props being transmitted through the Phantom frame to the camera. My next step is to install a vibration damper to eliminate the jello effect.
The blooper crashes happened due to my inexperience and the fact that the left and right control sticks were opposite to what I expected and what DJI shows in their tutorial videos. Luckily I have a few weeks to log more practice hours before I leave for the World Maker Faire in NYC in September.
