Laser Tag Blaser Robot Battle (Video)
Back by popular demand, the 2nd Annual Blaser Robot Battle, laser tag played with humanoid robots battling it out, will be held Sunday, September 13th at the Kondo RoboSpot facility in Akihabara.
For readers that aren’t already familiar with this fun and quite unique sport, here’s a quick video overview:
GEARED
Checking out the GEARED app for the iPhone, and having some fun with it.
The basic concept is pretty simple. You're provided with a set of gears and have to complete the linkage to make the final gear turn.
It won't be much of a challenge to experienced designers and robot builders, but it does provide some basic concepts that will be useful to beginners. Most important, it's fun to play.

The clown robot is made out of plastic, stands about 14 inches tall, used two D-cell batteries, and was originally made in Japan.
Seeing What's On The Inside
We've always been fascinated by all the internal gears and mechanisms that actually make things work. We're a sucker for any watches, clocks, and robots that feature cases that let you watch (pun intended) their guts in action.So we were very pleased to see that Tamiya is offering a number of their small gearboxes in clear plastic cases. This will probably end up triggering several new robot projects sooner rather than later.
