Can Autonomous Robots Be Governed?

Jon gordon

Jon Gordon, host of Future Tense, our favorite short form technology issues podcast, just posted two audio discussion segments with Ronald Arkin, the author of Governing Lethal Behavior in Autonomous Robots.

The segments address the issue of “Should battle robots be programmed to make decisions based on a code of ethics?”. Part 1 was originally posted on July 1, 2009 and was followed a just a day later by Part 2.

Jon’s unique insight, probing questions, and ability to track down industry leaders (and to convince them to be interviewed on Future Tense), is really a delight, especially in these times when the quality and depth of most media sources seems to be rapidly evaporating.

If you don’t already subscribe to the Future Tense podcast feed, you owe it to yourself to try it out. You’ll be glad you did.
