Designed and built for the most part by dedicated hobbyists, the top ROBO-ONE robots have 70% of ASIMO's performance at about 1/70th the cost.
And, the ROBO-ONE humanoids have also grown up physically. A good example is Maeda-san's OmniZero series. In the beginning all most all of the robots could be held in your arms, just like a baby. Yesterday, at ROBO-ONE 14, it took two grown men just to lift OmniZero.7 on to the ring platform, and they were really struggling to do it without dropping him.
See more photos of OmniZero.7 and the other robots that are competing here this weekend in our ROBO-ONE 14 photo set.

Great photos, thanks for sharing. I think the problem with going bigger is you need to start developing motion control that goes beyond the hobby kits. In the videos I've seen of Omni 7 and Alconon? they appear to need more sophisticated ZMP measured gaits and motions as they are very unbalanced. It's great that they can build 'em that big though -- but they should shift their focus to include more sensors and internal controls.

Are there going to be any videos for this?
I have noticed that there aren't many anymore :(

Chaffel: Yes, there will be some videos. I have video clips of many of the demonstrations, including OmniZero.7, but haven't had the time to post them yet.
