The 14th ROBO-ONE competition is coming up in less than one month, and competitors are rushing to complete their entries in time for Japan's premier humanoid robot event. This time around, the ROBO-ONE event will be held concurrent with ROBO-JAPAN 2008 at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall on October 11th and 12th.
As usual, the first day of the robot competition will include the primary demonstrations plus a competition for selection in the ROBO-ONE Space competition. The second day features the Final Tournaments with prizes of over 1 million yen (USD$ 10,000) up for grabs in several categories.
Since the ROBO-ONE events will take place on a special, custom built, stage within the larger commercial exhibition, the organizing committee has issued special restrictions on the use of wireless robot controls.
1) Use of a 2.4GHz radio control systems is prohibited. Bluetooth, Zigbee, and gamepad controls can be used. However, except during active competition, turn off the power supply and please do not use them. For robot adjustment and testing, please prepare a separate controller cable.
2) An application is required to use wireless LAN. Moreover, there are restrictions on their use, so please avoid using them if possible.
In addition, the use of walkie-talkie devices requires prior application and approval.

That's odd -- I thought the whole point of the 2.4GHz systems was that they could be used concurrently, without causing noticeable interference. My house is full of 2.4GHz signals (wireless network, phones, etc.). So this is very interesting -- thanks for the report!
