Jeppe - Your New Robot Best Friend (Video)
The folks over at the Nokia Research Center Smart Spaces laboratory have come up with a new new prototype robot named Jeppe that wants to be your new best friend (video below). Scooting around the house like a small pet dog, Jeppe can do the standard stuff, like safety patrol or remote surveillance, but where it really shines centers around what Nokia calls "active videoconferencing."
Equipped with a digital compass sensor, onboard video camera, ultra sound sensors, two-way audio and gesture controlled movement. Nokia sees the Jeppe robot becoming an active part of your home, or office, environment - following you around, allowing you to hold video conferences on the move, and security monitoring.

Weird but neat!
I wonder if Jeppe will roll on carpet?
