"Green Eyes" The Robot Shows Up On Television
We mentioned before that several of the major Japanese television networks have been broadcasting programs featuring humanoid robots. This morning, NHK - the Japanese equivalent of PBS in the US - dedicated a slot on their early morning news magazine to the hobby robot boom taking place here in Japan.
The segment, which was shot a few days ago, included quite a few familiar faces, both human and robot. Our biggest surprise was seeing Green Eyes - a ROBO-ONE class robot - on the program. Very, very cool. [More photos below]
Any program about the robot scene here in Japan has to dedicate several minutes to the Tsukumo Robot store in Akihabara.
Of course, there were several ROBO-ONE competitors that 'just happened' to be in the store when the camera crew was taping.

The also included several 'man on the street' type interviews.

And, some how, they managed to talk at least one top competitor into allow them to visit his home.
'Green Eyes' actually has green LED eyes, hence the name.

It's pretty obvious how serious this particular builder is. We don't even want to start trying to calculate the total cost of all those parts and spares.
