HPI Robot Name May Have Problems

The new G-ROBOT series just announced by HPI Racing earlier this week may be heading for a copyright battle even before it has the chance to hit store shelves. A Google search turns up quite a few robots using variations on the G-ROBOT name. One in particular - the G-ROBOT 768 by dlabala Design not only uses the same 'G-ROBOT' name, it actually has it copyrighted.

To make things even more interesting the G-ROBOT 768 looks amazingly like a cross between a humanoid robot, an owl, and a hand grenade complete with pull pin. Its arm muscles alone would strike fear into the heart of Popeye the Sailor.

  1. You can’t copyright a name. You could trademark it, though.
