Combat Robot Builders Shout Out!

Image00353
Think that combat robots are on the marginal fringe - a weird sport with only a few minor robot builders actively participating?

Wrong! Think again. This sport is HOT and it's getting HOTTER all the time.

There are already hundreds, probably well over a thousand, teams spread across the US actively building competitive combat robots. If you find that hard to believe, then just take a quick look at the new Combat Robot Builders map on Frappr-

The new map web site (see link below) allows combat robot builders to enter their location, photos, and a some information about their robots. There's also a ShoutOut section where you can get a good feel for how out there and aggressive (in a friendly sort of way) the competitors really are.

The map is created by mashing together zipcode information with the Google map database while retaining all the original Google map features. So, if you happen to be in the San Francisco area and want to know who else is also involved in combat robots you can zoom in-

And, if you want to get more information or a closer look, all you have to do is click on one of the markers-

The new combat robot builders map has only been up for a little over a week, and already has more than 132 robot builders listed. It'll be fun to check it regularly, say once or twice a week, and watch how the sport explodes blossoms.
