Robot Sumo Contest at Makuhari – More Details

The link to the English information for this Saturday’s Robot Sumo contest was posted yesterday, but unfortunately there was no time schedule on that website. It was very hard to track down, but we finally managed to find a Japanese webpage that provided more details.

Saturday’s event is the Kanto regional finals for the FSI-ALl Japan Robot-Sumo Tournament. Everything will take place in the Makuhari Messe Event Hall, right next to the convention center. It’s roughly a five minute walk from Kaihin Makuhari station on the JR Keiyo line – about 35 minutes east of Tokyo.

Player registration opens at 10:00 am, and the opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 11:00 sharp. The actual competitions will begin at 11:30 am and run to as late as 15:30 – though it is typical for contests like this to wrap up early if some of the competitors experience technical difficulties and have to drop out.

It is definitely a better idea to come by train rather than car. The CEATEC show at the convention center is always packed on the last day, so vehicle traffic and parking will be extremely difficult.
