Tetsujin 28/Gigantor Robot Released for Sale
Vstone, in association with three other companies, put a fully functional Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor) robot on the market this week in advance of the new movie. Just like the original robot it’s controlled by a RC control similar to those used by model cars and airplanes. The new robot weighs 2.5 kg and stands 38 cm tall. The original Tetsujin was 20 meters tall, so this is effectively a 50:1 scale.
Vstone is well known in Japan as a leading developer of bipedal robots. Their robot kits are the basis for some of the competitors in the weekly NTV Robot Battle segment of the Sunday World Records program.
The suggested list price? The Japanese press release quotes 350,000 yen (about $3,500). I guess I’ll have to stick with Robosapien for a while longer…
